My beloved children in the lands of Immigration, both clergy and laity,

Arabic version

I send to you my sincere love to each one of you, wishing you a joyous life in the lands of immigration. May the Lord keep you without fault, loving one another with true love, that each you be careful to edify his brother, without offence.

I would like to congratulate you all with the start of the New Year, and the Glorious Feast of Nativity. May it be a blessed and happy year, carrying to you what the birth of the Lord carries from inspirations to the soul and also deep spiritual memories.

The Season of the Church

The Holy Nativity Fast

Nov 25, 2009 - Jan 6, 2010
Hathor 16 - Kioakh 28, 1726

"We preach not one advent only of Christ, but a second also, far more glorious than the former. For the former gave a view of His patience; but the latter brings with it the crown of a divine kingdom. For all things, for the most part, are twofold in our Lord Jesus Christ: a twofold generation; one, of God, before the ages; and one, of a Virgin, at the close of the ages: His descents twofold; one, the unobserved, like rain on a fleece; and a second His open coming, which is to be. In His former advent, He was wrapped in swaddling clothes in the manger; in His second, He covereth Himself with light as with a garment In His first coming, He endured the Cross, despising shame; in His second, He comes attended by a host of Angels, receiving glory. We rest not then upon His first advent only, but look also for His second. " St. Cyril of Alexandria on the Incarnation

Emmanuel - St.Cyril of Alexandria
Articles - Spiritual
Written by Ehab Roufail
St. Cyril of AlexandriaUnless the Son was God by Nature, He would not have been called, "God With Us,"which took place when He was born through a woman, assuming likeness with us. Not at all of an angel or of any other generate being is the word, Emmanuel, the invention but the Father thus named the Son. And the holy prophet will be our witness, saying of the Divine Offspring, "And they shall call His name that new Name which the Lord shall give Him" [IS. 62:2]. For a new name verily to the Son is Emmanuel, that is, "God with us." For before His Presence in the world with flesh, He was and was called merely God; after the Birth from the Virgin, no longer merely God, but, with us, i.e. Godmade man. Since therefore the Father calls His own Son God, let them blush who impiousl and unlearnedly say that He was made. For what is by Nature God, is not a creature.

Blessed is she who believed
Articles - Spiritual
Written by George Barbary

“Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfilment of those things which were told to her from the Lord” Lk 1:45

It is amazing how we sometimes in our reading of scripture pass by words and verses which convey themselves with such simplicity of flow and meaning, yet when we spiritually contemplate on those very words and verses we are stopped in our mental tracks. For our hearts and our minds are left gazing at the most amazing wonders ordained by God. In the end we are left praising with King David saying, The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.” Ps 119:130 and “I have seen the consummation of all perfection, but your commandments are very broad” Ps 119:96.
