Seven set off to Milan on the 1st June 2007 to share our Love for the Lord with our Italian brothers and sisters in the Coptic churches in Milan.
The university mtg of St. Mark had quickly planned this and we didn't really think it would actually happen yet here we were. We arrived in a country not too far away from our own yet not able to communicate or get around, so we relied on God who bought us here.
Our host a servant called Mino, picked us up from in
front of the awe inspiring Duomo Catholic cathedral in the centre of
Milan. We had already been inside and managed to visit a cafe or two as
well.
Our goal was to share with our brothers and sisters and they with us and quickly that day we found ourselves in front of St.Mark's Coptic Church in Milan centre in uncharacteristic rain amongst several of our Italian brethren. The church, which used to be a Catholic Church, has an impressive tall presence with an old aura about it. It was amazing how quickly we got to know them - despite language barriers we felt quickly at home with them and speedily got round to our characteristic joking.
So it was with Joyful reassured hearts, as I wasn't sure how we would get on or communicate, that we were lovingly driven to a gorgeous restaurant (Remona's Father's - one of the sisters) and commenced to enjoy some Italian delicacies. Our discussions and chatting went on for several hours and could've gone on for much longer, but we needed to head to the Coptic Monastery of St. Shenouda that was to be our home for the next few nights.
